Above-average-and potentially record-setting warm temperatures-are expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service. By Sunday, however, forecasters say a powerful cold front will bring winter-like weather back to the area through early next week.

Dallas weather: Frigid Monday in 20s before unseasonably warm weather returns
After a frigid start to the workweek in the 20s, DFW will quickly warm up, with highs reaching the upper 60s and even 70s by the end of the week. It's a true "Winter to Spring" swing for the DFW Metroplex!
Snow is rare in Texas, especially in the southern parts of the state, but there's one part of the winter when it becomes more likely.
In fact, Christmas Day has the potential of being one of the top five warmest Christmases recorded. The good news is that it will be fantastic weather for outdoor festivities, just a little warm. The next cool down and slight chance for rain is in the forecast late Saturday night into Sunday.
The Dallas area forecast predicts varied weather, with sunny and cloudy days, mild highs in the 70s, and occasional gusty winds.
Snow is rare in Texas, especially in the southern parts of the state, but there’s one part of the winter when it becomes more likely.
On Monday, the low temperature at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will bottom out at 33 degrees before rising to the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. The day will be mostly clear and sunny with winds from the north at about 5 mph, becoming calm in the morning.
Big changes are on the way this weekend as a strong cold front moves through. Highs Saturday will be in the mid-60s, but drop to the mid-40s on Sunday. Wind chills early Sunday morning will be in the 20s, with winds reaching up to 20 mph.
With high atmospheric pressure expected to develop next week, this could be one of the warmest Christmases ever across much of Texas.
