The jumbo jet isn't just used for long-haul services.

The Boeing 747 may be dying, but some carriers continue to persist and find ways to make the aging Queen of the Skies profitable again.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- United Airlines flew the last flight of its venerable, four-engine 747 jet. Call it a victim of changing times and more efficient aircraft, but the airline sent it out in style.

For now, the jumbo jet will only serve the country on a cargo basis.
