It's main use is going to be for dry fly fishing, on small streams. I may fish it occasionally on medium rivers, ( 25 ft width estimate). I do use terrestrials, humpy trumpy's kill on a local creek. Sometimes use chubby Chernobyls, and others on this bigger size. Does anyone have this rod? I'm...
Having been a passionate fly tyer and deer hunter for the best part of my life, It became a natural progression for me to embrace the material these animals have provided me with over the years and learn everything I could about their different qualities and applications within fly tying. Deer...
At the end of the day any boat is a compromise. That being said, I just got a new Kodiak with the Fly Fishing Show discount to replace my 20+ year old Water Master with the updated Kodiak design. The fly keeps a large profile and pulsates a bit in the water, whereas flashabou tends to clump into a very narrow profile in the water unless you go full prom dress style. Not saying one is better than the other, but just know that there is a meaningful difference in how the fly looks and swims underwater.
A Redington was the first fly rod I bought, and now i own 3. Additionally i have a pair of their waders, which i absolutely love for the durability and value. I cant speak highly enough for their customer service when i needed it as well (broke a tip on a rod, they did not have it in stock, so...
I was going to add a section of mono to a friend's line, for attaching leaders to. What diameter of material would you recommend for a 5 wt line? And on a similar theme, what diameter of material do you start with for butt sections of leaders? Obviously it might vary with line weight...
